156, 158, 160, 168, 170,172 from the packet! WORK MUST BE SHOWN!

Quiz will covering absolute value equations, Inequalities solving and graphing! Students should have their bellwork from today and their packet. They need to study over these for the quiz! The quiz is worth 200 points and should not take even half of the class period. It is not a multiple choice test and work must be shown and answers and graphs written properly!

Please check out my links below in other posts to help get you ready for the quiz!

absolute value clicker quiz released End of Course Test Items

These are release test items from our States end of course Algebra Exam that we looked at today doing a clicker quiz. We I want them to see how the wording can be interesting for the state test. Here is what we worked on and explained in class today!

Homework Due 10-23 and 10-24

Homework came from the packet on Inequalities. Students were given time in class to work these few problems but we will be checking them in class. Problems: 128, 130, 132, 134, 136, 138, 140

Remember Please do not shade the dot in if there is no bar under the greater than or less than sign.

Also if you divide or multiply both sides of the inequality by a negative number please make sure you flip your inequality sign!

10-4 and 10-5 Ways to Earn Back Points

Last Test Grades are being given out today and tomorrow. I am giving out how many questions students need to do from the following assignment. Each question is worth 6 points but the student must show work and it must be correct. The student may use help from others, they may get help from the textbook but I must see work and it needs to help them because this is a critical part of Algebra that we just covered.
Assignment: Pg 469 1-30  Pg 468 64-69. This can be started on tonight and over the weekend. We will be using Monday and Tuesday class time to work in groups to discuss these problems and get them turned in. This will allow the student to earn back half credit.
Other Things That can be done to Raise a grade....
Bell work and Homework grades can be replaced with the highest score by looking at old blogs on this page that have links to quizzes. Student takes the quiz until they have a 100 and understand it and then email me their score. This may be done with several scores by taking several quizzes. I have many quizzes posted. I will start off by first replacing the lowest bell work or homework grade that will help them most.
Email me @     lorraine.gordon@lrsd.org
If you have any questions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gordon

10-2 and 10-3 practice quizzes and what is going on!

10-2-12 and 10-3-12 Practice Quizzes to help get ready
Also we will be taking the Soar test Thursday and Friday of this week. After Soar test we will go back over Solving for a variable. Tests are still be graded and students still making them. Next week all students will have a chance to rework missed questions in class to earn back half points lost.

Where we are headed....

We are going to be working on solving linear equations as well as writing linear equations and graphing them in Slope intercept form and point Slope form. This will take us a few weeks this will also be combined with graphing and discussing how to find the slope and the Y-intercept.  We will also be looking at distance formula and midpoint formula when looking at linear equations.

As we take these notes I will post these on the web!

10-2-12A and 10-3-12B

Homework: workbook pg 22  # 13,14
                    workbook pg 24 # 1-6 and 13, 14

Solving Proportions: Students need to multiply the two numbers that are diagnol from each other and divide by the number that has yet to been used.

Solving for a variable in a formula. Students will need a strong understanding of solving multistep equations in order to solve for a variable in a formula. Students have started on this in class and will continue on this in the next class period.

Students will take Soar on 10-4, 10-5 all I ask of them is to try their hardest!
